Madison Ibsen and Thomas Christopher, of Oak Bluffs, announce the birth of a daughter, Meadow Kay Christopher, born on July 27.

 

 

 

Emelia Armstead

Falmouth Academy senior Emelia Armstead of Edgartown is a semi-finalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Program for black American high school students. Emelia is also a National Merit Scholarship commended student. She is the daughter of Kenneth Armstead and Lorna Giles, who own and run the Arbor Inn.

Cable Future Forum

MVTV, in cooperation with the towns on Martha’s Vineyard, is seeking input on the future of cable service, community media and technology that will be available on the Island for the next 10 years. Comcast has submitted a request to have its cable franchise agreements renewed. As a part of the process of exploring the future cable communications needs of the Island there will be a series of focus groups.

Garden Club Monthly

The Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Wakeman Center in West Tisbury.

The program this month is Holiday Creations. Dr. Else Membreno will offer ideas and demonstrate techniques for creating floral arrangements and decorations for the Thanksgiving holidays.

A hospitality hour with refreshments will follow the program.

The event is free for members and $5 for guests.

Help Homeless Animals

Kym Cyr, who runs the Helping Homeless Animals shelter in Oak Bluffs, has a critical need for people to adopt cats. The summer season has left the shelter full of cats and dogs in desperate need of a home. Call Kym at 508-221-6931 for more information and directions to the shelter on June avenue.

Volunteers are also needed.
