Tax Free Weekend

The Tisbury Business Association invites all to shop in Vineyard Haven during the tax-free holiday weekend. For every purchase of $25 or more made at any Vineyard Haven business on August 15, 16 and 17, you will receive a free movie ticket good for any show at the Main street Capawock Theatre on Sunday August 17. There is a maximum of four tickets per receipt; 200 tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Billy and Naomi Dias of Oak Bluffs welcome their son, Théoden Joseph Jacob Dias, who was born July 30 at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 3.4 ounces. Theo joins his two sisters, Evelyn Joy and Penelope.

The Vineyard Conservation Society executive director Brendan O’Neill has been named the 2008 recipient of the Nicholas A. Robinson Environmental Award for his placed-based environmental work on Martha’s Vineyard. The award recognizes significant public service contributions in the environmental field by a graduate of the environmental legal studies program at Pace University School of Law in New York.

Mr. O’Neill shares this year’s honor with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also a Pace graduate.

Heather and John Hoff of West Tisbury announce the birth of a son, John Francis Hoff, on July 24, at the Martha’s Vineyard Community Hospital. John weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces at birth.

Edgartown Realtor Elected

To Cape, Islands Board

Bill LeRoyer, co-owner and principal broker of Harborside Realty Inc. of Edgartown, has been elected to the board of directors of the Cape Cod and Islands Association of Realtors.

The professional association is made up of member real estate offices located on Cape Cod, the Vineyard and Nantucket and is the local chapter of the National Association of Realtors, which has more than one million members in the United States.

Estelle Suprenant of 41 Nashawena Park, Oak Bluffs, is pleased to announce the marriage of her daughter, René Hartford Surprenant, to James J. Nolan of 37 Nashawena Park, Oak Bluffs, and formerly Jamaica Plain.

René and Jim were married in The Villages, Fla., on June 27, at the home of Keith and Jeffrey Polmanteer.

Attendants were Jeffrey Polmanteer and Helen Pope, the aunt of James. René’s children, Emily, Liz and Jake, welcome Jim into their family. René and Jim live in Middleborough and Oak Bluffs.
