Hello, Griffin
Beth and Chris Buehler of Edgartown announce the birth of a son, Griffin Thomas Buehler, born on Dec. 22, 2008 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Griffin weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce at birth. He joins big brother Noah.
Funds for Grants Available
Through Edey Foundation
The Edey Foundation, founded by the late Maitland Edey of Seven Gates Farm, announces funds available for grants to Island nonprofit organizations.
The purpose of the foundation is to provide money for conservation and environmental programs on Martha’s Vineyard. Submissions that relate to ongoing conservation, energy, education, and scientific studies are welcome. The foundation does not fund construction or building projects.
Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School principal Stephen Nixon has announced the Honor Roll for the first quarter of the 2008-2009 academic year.

The Noepe Chapter of the National Honor Society held a recognition and induction ceremony at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School on Dec. 9. The following students were recognized for academic achievement. Names preceded by an asterisk represent spring 2008 inductees to the Society.

The Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard is accepting applications for its spring grant cycle. The endowment welcomes inquiries from Island nonprofit organizations seeking funding for programs and initiatives that will benefit the Vineyard community. In the past, the Endowment has provided support for the arts and culture, civic affairs and community development, education, the elderly, the environment, health and youth. Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 16 and applicants will be notified of grant awards in March.
The towns of Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, Edgartown, West Tisbury and Aquinnah are applying for grant funds that will provide income-qualified homeowners with needed home repairs. Applications are now being taken and funds will be awarded on a first come-first serve basis. To learn more about this program, please attend one of the following public information sessions:
