So you want to be a star? Well, how about we start with baby steps, an extra perhaps. On Dec. 13 and 14, Day 90 Film Production will be shooting a movie in West Tisbury from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. each day.
The craft of building, restoring and loving wooden boats was celebrated Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Vineyard debut of the movie Wood Sails Dreams screened at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society in Vineyard Haven. The one-hour documentary is a New England coastal story and it is a Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket story.

The Capawock Theatre turns 100 years old this year, but there are no plans to hold a midnight screening celebration. The oldest continually running theatre in the state is closed this winter.
On Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society is screening Wood Sail Dreams, a movie about the journey of wooden sailboats from the 1970’s to today.
The film comes from 1957, so the colors look elemental and crayon bright. The music is jouncy and insistent, like something you’d hear in an old-time Friendly’s Restaurant. The men wear neckties and smoke, pretty much no matter where they are or what they’re doing.
