You read it here first, and so did Larry David. While he couldn’t give away the entire plot in advance of the premiere this weekend, director Greg Mottola of the movie Clear History, which stars the co-creator of Seinfeld himself, confirmed that the Gazette defines a key plot point in the HBO film set on Martha’s Vineyard.

Each week the folks at Cinema Circus show a series of short films on Wednesday evening at the Chilmark Community center. The films begin at 6 p.m. but the circus — complete with jugglers, face painters, stilt walkers, food and music — gets underway at 5 p.m.

These are just a few of the questions posed by an upcoming short film by Islanders Ronan Noone and Steve Dunayer called The Accident. Although filming will not begin until the fall, the movie will be shot entirely on-Island and the pair has already begun fundraising and checking items off their lengthy to-do list.

For his One Hundred Town Tour this summer to promote his latest film, Northern Borders, Jay Craven makes it clear that this is a purposefully small town circuit.

“In the fall we’ll take it to the cities, Boston, New York, but this is a small town film, so we felt it should first be shown in the small towns of New England.”

On Thursday, August 8, the film screens on Martha’s Vineyard at the Film Center in Vineyard Haven.

On Saturday, July 27, the film Sharkwater screens at 8 p.m. at the Katherine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven. The documentary directed by Rob Stewart, aims to debunk stereotypes of sharks as vicious killers of the sea. Mr. Stewart’s film travels the oceans of the world exploring the lives of sharks, the people seeking to protect them and others who try to exploit and kill them, including shark poachers in Guatemala and marine reserves in Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands.

The Martha’s Vineyard Film Center hosts a filmmaker-in-residence event with photographer/filmmaker Lauren Greenfield. Her work chronicles the youth culture, gender and consumerism in acclaimed works including Girl Culture, Fast Forward, THIN and her documentary, The Queen of Versailles. Ms. Greenfield will lead a workshop-style presentation on Thursday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the film center in the Tisbury Marketplace in Vineyard Haven. A screening of two of her films will follow on Friday and Saturday.
