Dean’s List
The following Vineyard students have been named to the dean’s list for the 2011 spring semester at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
In order to qualify, an undergraduate student must receive a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a four-point scale.

Vineyard Casual
Liz Stiving-Nichols, owner of Martha’s Vineyard Interior Design, was featured in the August 18 edition of the Boston Globe Style section. The article titled Vineyard Casual focused on coastal décor as well as the many custom furniture pieces designed by Stiving-Nichols and manufactured through her company, Martha’s Vineyard Furniture Company.

Asiya Arrives
Gia Rae Winsryg-Ulmer and Rachid Bachabella of West Tisbury announce the birth of a daughter, Asiya Rae Bachabella, born on August 8, 2011, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Asiya weighed 5 pounds, 7.8 ounces at birth.
Special date: After 64 years of marriage, John Mayhew called his bride and asked her to be his date for the 150th Annual Agricultural Fair.
Mr. Mayhew, a resident of Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, was on one of the nine outings from Windemere to the fair at which his bride, Shirley, was able to meet him, hold hands in the shade, and share a few laughs.
Hello Désirée
Cristina and Ivan Bourguignon of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of a daughter, Désirée Marie Bourguignon, born on August 21, 2011, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Désirée weighed 7 pounds, 11.5 ounces at birth.

Our featured animal this week at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is a dog named Rocky. He is a two-year-old Beagle/lab cross, medium sized and gets along well with everyone.
