A Vineyard Haven man charged with attempted murder and unlawful possession of firearms and an explosive device was released on $20,000 bail after a dangerousness hearing Tuesday morning. Bail had been set at $250,000 at a hearing last week.
Matthew Gamache, 36, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with attempted murder, domestic assault and battery, intimidation of a witness, 24 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of an explosive device. A dangerousness hearing is set for Tuesday.
The Edgartown and Oak Bluffs police departments invite the Vineyard community to participate in an upcoming Citizens Police Academy.
Shaun A. Sicsico, 20, pleaded guilty Tuesday morning in Dukes County superior court on a charge of assault and battery on a child with substantial injury. The Hon. Tina S. Page, associate justice of the superior court, sentenced Mr. Sicsico to three to five years at MCI Cedar Junction.
Russell Ventura, 39, submitted a letter of resignation to West Tisbury police chief Daniel Rossi on Feb. 13. This week the West Tisbury selectmen accepted Mr. Ventura’s resignation without discussion by a vote of 2-0.
Gizmar DeSouza, 28, was arraigned Feb. 20 in Edgartown district court on charges on trafficking in a class B substance (cocaine) and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police said he allegedly had 28 grams of cocaine in his possession.
