David Brodnick Graduates
David Hale Brodnick of Chilmark and Pound Ridge, N.Y., grandson of Betty Kogen and nephew of Michael Kogen of Chilmark, graduated with honors from Cornell University with a double-major in Near Eastern studies and history.
Seeking Food
Are you closing your summer house and have food left in your pantry? The Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center’s social action committee is once again collecting nonperishable food for the Island Food Pantry which is scheduled to reopen in mid-October. Donations of unopened, nonperishable food can be dropped off at the Hebrew Center, 130 Centre street in Vineyard Haven, Tuesday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For additional information, please call 508-693-0745.
Katherine Aleksandra Peachway and Joshua Samuel Dienstag, both of New York city, were married on June 12, 2010 at the Beach Plum Inn in Menemsha. Daniel Basov, justice of the peace, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Valentina Peachway, of Brooklyn, N.Y. The bridegroom’s parents are Dr. and Mrs. Jules Dienstag, of Boston and West Tisbury.
The matron of honor was Vassilysa Basov. Best man was Jonathan Dienstag.
The reception was held at Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs.

The Animal Shelter is bursting at the seams with cats, kittens, guinea pigs, a bunny, and one beautiful dog. She is a handsome fawn boxer cross, young and very sweet and her name is Katama. She loves to go for walks and loves people. Won’t someone please come to see her? You will fall in love with her!
Clean Water Talk
The head of the Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative will discuss a host of water issues — including wastewater planning and treatment, the Estuaries Project, and the law suit that was filed late last week by the Conservation Law Foundation and the Coalition for Buzzards Bay to push Cape Cod towns and federal regulators to reduce nitrogen that is flowing into the region’s coastal waters — on the Vineyard this week.
Leads Summer Institute
Geraldine (Gerri) Alpert of Edgartown and Boston became the fourth chairman of the Summer Institute at the annual meeting of the organizing committee, held August 24 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center. She will lead a board which also includes Stanley Snider, founder of the Summer Institute, and his two successors as chairman, Carole Cohen and Betsy Sheerr.
