Launch Operator License
Course Is Set for June
Sail Martha’s Vineyard and Confident Captain-Ocean Pros of Rhode Island will offer a launch operator license class in Vineyard Haven on June 7 and 8.
This 16-hour class meets the U.S. Coast Guard training and exam requirements to enable the operator to apply for the launch operator license. Completion of this course exempts students from having to take the licensing exam at the Coast Guard.
Estate Planning Talk
An educational presentation on estate planning will be presented by attorney Margot Parrot at 5 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the Tisbury Senior Center, 34 Pine Tree Road, Vineyard Haven. Peru: Panoramic Studies
Featured in Library Show
Artist Valerie Sonnenthal will present a series of photographs taken in Peru’s Sacred Valley in 2007 in an exhibit scheduled for the Chilmark Public Library.
The public is invited to an artist’s reception at the library on Saturday, May 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. The show will run through June 13.
All are panoramic assemblage studies for large-scale installations. Though presented here as flat, the series of photos are generally made for 360-degree viewing.
On June 21, Oak Bluffs will kick off summer with two well-known events, HarborFest and Summer Solstice, merged into one day of outdoor entertainment called the Day of Water, Night of Lights.
The day will begin at noon with the 17th annual HarborFest featuring music, arts, crafts and family entertainment nestled between the harborfront and the gingerbread cottages. Throughout the day, the harbor will host activities including the Anything that Floats Race and a demonstration by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Montessori Fundraiser
Big Night Out, a fundraiser for Vineyard Montessori School, will be held Friday, May 16 at Farm Neck Golf Club from 6 to 10 p.m. The evening will feature gourmet hors d’oeuvres, desserts by Rickard Bread Company and live and silent auctions.
