Summertime Bounty

I'm a big fan of bad weather. Monday morning's unexpected rain gave me a much-deserved day off.

 

 

 
Last weekend’s big melt certainly put me in a spring mood. Too bad there are still so many skating rinks in the driveways and shady sections of the dirt roads.

I will do anything to avoid doing my taxes. Honestly I need to be locked in an empty room with my receipts and no phone.

Brrr! I write this column on Monday morning. I’m looking at four degrees. If memory serves me, and it rarely does, I don’t believe we were in the single digits all last winter.

I am happy in the winter. I love the slowed pace, don’t mind the snow, and appreciate the time indoors to regroup. However, the icy working conditions are too much.

I have rats. Thankfully they are not in the house but are running wild in the vegetable garden. They have eaten the tops of my beets, hollowed out the celeriac, and made their way into the tubs of greens in the big coldframes.
