It’s been nearly 400 years since Jaques in As You Like It made the observation that all the world’s a stage, but over the next few weeks, high school drama teacher Kate Murray and 16 theatre students will take the Shakespearian saying to heart as they rehearse their original musical, The Secret of the Seven Sisters, in parking lots, hallways and on beaches in order to prepare for their upcoming two-week trip to Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland, where they will stage four performances of the show.

The planes — two trainer aircraft and a transport plane — were flown in as a spinoff event to the Those Who Serve exhibit at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum.

The music of the Star-Spangled Banner gave way to the sounds of emcee Allen (Deejay Lefty) Pires’s turntable as the eighth annual Vineyard Streetball Classic got underway this Saturday in Niantic Park in Oak Bluffs. For the next five hours, would-be NBA stars from 14 teams — six from the age 10 to 12 division and four each in the age 13 to 14 and 15 to 18 — battled through round robin and double elimination play before the two strongest sides met in each division’s final championship game.

Vineyard musical favorite Kahoots closed their appearance at Saturday’s Best Festival, held at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs, by noting that they’d just finished “the mellowest set we’ve played in a long time.”
