The voices of several Vineyard residents will be featured in the upcoming documentary film Zeb: Schooner Life, which is being produced by Detrick Lawrence Productions of Edgartown.
The film tells the story of Zeb Tilton (1866-1952), a legendary schooner captain from the Vineyard and his iconic vessel, the Alice S. Wentworth. Covering the history of schooners, the schooner trade and its legacy, this film is scheduled for release later this year, with an Island premiere in June.
The Martha’s Vineyard Hospital’s Center for Women’s Health has announced that Nancy Leport, a certified nurse midwife, has joined the center’s medical practice.
Ms. Leport, a longtime Island resident, completed her midwifery training at Columbia University in 1997. She previously served the Vineyard community as a nurse in the maternity department of the hospital.
Open Mike at Island Co-Housing, a new monthly series that continues Friday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m., is designed to encourage any and all youngsters to play and enjoy each other’s music.

Lap Puppets
April Thanhauser of Spindrift Marionettes will join the staff of Plum Hill School to offer a free morning of puppets and crafts tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Family Center at the high school.
April’s puppet show will feature colorful “lap puppets” enacting a medley of nursery rhymes — just right for toddlers and preschoolers.
Stephanie DaRosa and Josie Black of Plum Hill will follow with a natural craft activity for parents and children to do together.
