Announces Island Gifts
The board of directors of the Farm Neck Foundation has announced $51,800 in annual charitable grants for 2007 to 13 Vineyard organizations and agencies.
The largest gift, $25,000, is a pledge toward the new YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard building.
Island Therapists Attend
Educational Conferences
Larry Greenberg and Deborah Shipkin of Greenberg Physical and Hand Therapy Associates in West Tisbury recently attended The Boston Shoulder Symposium, which presented the most recent surgical and rehabilitation techniques for the treatment of shoulder injuries.
Vineyard home cook Charlie Cameron enjoys a laissez-faire approach to cooking. He grew up with parents who went to France on their honeymoon in the 1950s, and stayed for two years. They were “serious foodies,” he explained, who passed their love for cooking on to him. While at Vassar College in the 80s, Mr. Cameron dropped out for a year and a half, because he just wanted to cook for a while.
“I’d heard about this place on Martha’s Vineyard called The Black Dog, where they’d train you to cook,” he said.
The Shaw Cramer Gallery of contemporary fine crafts and paintings is presenting a Drawing Invitational: A Sense of Line through Dec. 31.
More than 20 Island artists plus off-Island artists will show their drawings, a genre that is close to their hearts but seldom exhibited.

The overwhelming response to the Spice of Life Memoir Organization and Writing course taught by Susan Klein last spring has prompted the Tisbury Senior Center to host another in January and February of 2008.
Interested would-be memoirists who would like to work on their life stories for their own pleasure, as a legacy to family and friends, or for publication should call Susan Klein at 508-693-4140 as soon as possible to reserve a slot.
Classes will run Thursdays Jan. 3 through Feb. 21, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Tisbury Senior Center on Pine street.
