Sense of Wonder Creations is holding its fourth annual holiday benefit craft workshops. The beneficiary this year is Sister Flora’s Orphanage on Ile A Vache, Haiti.

The workshops take place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be felt ornaments and shape making, wooden and cardboard Boxes to decorate, mod podge creations, paint glass plates, paint pottery bowls, wreaths, stuffed animals, tea towels and much more.

Each year for the holidays the artists at the Night Heron Gallery create a gift bag of their art and raffle it off for charity.

Fanny Howe, whose latest book of poetry, Second Childhood, was nominated for the National Book Award, suggests that readers not try to understand her poems but rather just listen to the music of the words and images. Her collection centers around "the convergence between old age and childhood."

This weekend the Gay Head Gallery is hosting an open house from noon to 5 p.m., Friday through Sunday. There will be a question and answer session with artist Enos Ray at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Cindy Kane has collected mementos and notes from foreign correspondents sent to cover embattled areas and covered old metal Viet Nam era war helmets with the artifacts. The exhibit premiered in 2008, but a show that just premiered at the Flatiron Building in New York city has given it new life.
