When Lois Mailou Jones began painting in the 1920s, she did so in near anonymity, a sign of the endemic racism and sexism of the time. But 92 years after her first exhibition, Ms. Jones is now the focus of a new exhibit at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, running from June 12 to August 23 this summer. Nearly 17 years after she died, Ms. Jones is once again on display in the Vineyard.

The Vineyard Conservation Society has named the winners of their annual high school art competition The winning artwork will be honored Sunday at the Martha's Vineyard Film Center, and on display at the film center lobby for two weeks.

On Wednesday night, parents and friends flocked to the regional high school for the annual Evening of the Arts and World Culture Night, a student art showcase. Photography, artwork, home designs and even a paddleboard were just a few of the creations on display.
