Featherstone’s first opening reception of 2015 features an Island favorite: sheep. All things woolly are included in the I Love Ewe: The Year of the Sheep Show.

This week the art students at Sense of Wonder Creations will be creating Valentine’s messages for family, friends or anyone in need of a card.

Regional honors for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards were announced this week, with Vineyard students picking up awards in everything from painting to short fiction. A total of 18 regional high school students were recognized for their work, as were five students from the public charter school.

Islander and artist Tim Laursen has his workshop in a former ball bearing factory at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. His most recent piece, a kinetic sculpture that can be powered by solar or a hand crank to create the flying motion of a large metal bird, will have a permanent home on the Vineyard.
