Nancy Noble Gardner calls her solo photography show opening this weekend at Featherstone Center for the Arts an honor: “I‘m excited by the total freedom I was given, and I chose photographs which are most significant to me, creating a retrospective.”

The opening reception for this exhibition will be on Sunday, June 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the gallery on Barnes Road near the blinker in Oak Bluffs.

Featherstone is hosting a show featuring the work of Vineyard photographers.

The new show is titled Favorite Vineyard Scenes, so the shots are friendly and familiar. All of the artists have previously shown at Featherstone, but this is an opportunity to preview their most recent images.

Twenty-eight artists were invited. Participants include Frayda Galvin, Alison Shaw, Chris Baer, David Welch, Harvey Beth, Louisa Gould, Kathy Rose and Robert Schellhammer.

Treehouse Studios in West Tisbury has re-opened in its new location on State Road opposite up-Island Cronig’s and will continue to feature fine art and selected antiques, as well as an assortment of art-related books.

Director Ruth Adams has announced that her new location offers expanded space within the gallery and plentiful off-street parking.

Alison Shaw: Orange

The opening reception for the 2008 season at the Alison Shaw Gallery is set for Saturday, May 24 from 4 to 7 p.m.

This year the gallery is showing work from Ms. Shaw’s many series of fine art photographs, unified by the theme of color. Photography at Dragonfly

The opening reception for the Dragonfly Gallery’s photography show will be held Saturday, May 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the gallery at 91 Dukes County avenue. The show runs from May 22 through June 1.

The gallery’s show features many Vineyard and regional photographers. Photos of familiar vistas as well as exotic places and personal looks at nature and the world are included. From black and white to bold color, this show expresses the magic of the many types of cameras, photographers and printing processes.
