Artist Anne Grandin calls herself a spiritualist, specifically a Native American spiritualist. This belief system drives the flowing, circular rhythms in her paintings — which have been exhibited here at Carol Craven Gallery, Featherstone Center for the Arts and the Old Sculpin Gallery — and it fits neatly, too, with her latest project, the Tisbury mural, which will take its place on the expansive wall on the Stop & Shop come spring.
Carol Craven Opens Today
The Carol Craven Gallery will be open Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Breakdown Lane in Vineyard Haven.

Louisa Gould Gallery announces a new show, The Permanent Collection of the Martha’s Vineyard Art Association, opening Saturday, Nov. 8, with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m.
Several Vineyard photographers have had their work published in a new 2009 calendar from the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture. A full-page photograph of Marle the alpaca from Tisbury photographer Heather Welch graces the January page and Oak Bluffs resident Julian Robinson’s photograph of the agricultural fair horse show marks the month of July. Ms. Welch and Kelley DeBettencourt of Edgartown also have had smaller photographs published in the calendar as honorable mention winners.
