East Meets West: Recent Work by Peg Thayer opens at the Pebble Gallery at Featherstone Center for the Arts tomorrow, Saturday, June 28, with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Influenced by her studies in East-West psychology, Peg Thayer’s practice of painting reveals her spiritual connection with nature.

This show brings images from the Southwest, California, and Hawaii together with those from the Vineyard.

The show runs daily 1 to 4 p.m. through Saturday, July 5, at the gallery on Barnes Road near the blinker in Oak Bluffs.

North Water Gallery (formerly Gardner Colby Gallery) in Edgartown invites everyone to an artist’s reception for Suzanne Crocker on Thursday, June 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Inspired primarily with barns and seaside cottages, Ms. Crocker explores color, shape and mood through her bold and dynamic paintings. Her foundation is a vivid orange canvas and layers color to create an image which can be both soothing and intense. Since her introduction, she has quickly become a favorite here.

North Water Gallery in Edgartown welcomes all to a champagne celebration to honor Ray Ellis with his first show at the gallery. The reception is tomorrow, Saturday, June 21, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The show will feature many new and never-before-seen works by the 88-year-old painter, including several recent up-Island watercolors, as well as his limited edition prints and signed books. Join in a toast to the artist, who will attend.

The Belushi Pisano Gallery kicks off its summer season with a group exhibition of works by many Vineyard artists including the gallery’s director, Jessica Pisano, metal artist Graeme Bradlee, as well as jewelers Andrea Hartman, Ronni Simon and former Island resident Tracy Page Smith. The show also includes hand-formed lamps by Jenik K. Munafo and furniture by John Thayer.
