Diet Center Will Open
The Martha’s Vineyard Holistic Retreat, which gained national recognition with the release of the publication, 21 Pounds in 21 Days, The Martha’s Vineyard Diet Detox, plans to open a new location at 4 Main street in Vineyard Haven in early July.

Come: Field of Dreams
The 2nd annual Baseball Fest will be held Thursday, July 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the baseball field at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in Oak Bluffs.
The event will feature games, batting cages, hot air balloon rides, a radar gun, face painting, and ball park food. Field of Dreams will be shown courtesy of Martha’s Vineyard Film Society on the big screen in the outfield starting at 8 p.m.

Black sea bass is one of the Vineyard’s best-kept secrets when it comes to good eating. The fish can’t be bought in the store, but if you know a sport boat fisherman, there is a chance you can get it if you politely ask.
Black sea bass are swimming around the Vineyard in fair abundance.
This weekend, the Oak Bluffs Veterans of Foreign War Post 9261 is hosting its ninth annual fluke tournament. The post is adding a small form of recognition to the black sea bass and to the anglers who catch big ones.
Red Cross Classes
The American Red Cross is organizing a number of CPR, AED and First Aid classes in July and August. All classes will be held at the Martha’s Vineyard YMCA at 57 Pequot avenue in Oak Bluffs.
The Infant and Child CPR class will be held on Monday, July 14, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The cost for this class is $45.
An Adult CPR/AED class will be held on Saturday, July 12,and there will also be a class on Saturday, August 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost for the Adult CPR/AED course is $50.
The Holmes Hole Sailing Association continued its summer season of handicap sailboat racing from Vineyard Haven harbor with a Thursday night race on July 3 and two harbor races on July 6.
Thursday night was overcast with the threat of rain, and a 10-knot southwest wind. Six boats posted for the start at red nun 6 outside of the Vineyard Haven harbor breakwater.
Finishing first was Bob Jewett in his Soling, Andiamo II. In second was Dan Culkin in the Vineyard Vixen, Magic Time. In third was Jerry Goodale in the Pearson 31, Stormalong.
Cape Cod League Teams
Will Play Game on Island
A Cape Cod Baseball League will be played between the Falmouth Commodores and the Wareham Gatemen at Tuesday, July 22 at 1 p.m. at the baseball field at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, Oak Bluffs.
The league annually presents some of the best baseball players in the country. An autograph session will follow the game.
