With the team competing in just three home meets and eleven regular-season meets overall, the accomplishments of the Vineyard cross-country squads can get a bit, well, lost in the woods.

Ryan Fisher was airborne, bare fingers closing around the football intended for the blue-and-white challenger behind him as the fourth-quarter clock flicked from 00:28 to 00:27. The Vineyard senior collapsed backwards across the 10-yard line, football pressed to his chest, players dressed in purple starting to swarm around him, shouts exploding from the right side of the bleachers at Vito Capizzo Stadium on Nantucket.

“Keep the Cup! Keep the Cup!”

Turkey Burner Day

The YMCA feels the pain of your extended stomach. So much turkey, potatoes, stuffing, brussels sprouts (maybe?) and on and on. So what’s a beached whale supposed to do? Burn turkey, burn.

Free of charge, the Y is celebrating its second annual Turkey Burner Day on Friday, Nov. 25. What this means is you can sample all the Y has to offer, from the pool to exercise equipment and exercise classes, for free. The free child watch is also available.

Yes, there is no excuse.

The Vineyarders took home their third win in four weeks last Friday night against visiting Medford, rolling over their opponents 21-0 in last week’s homecoming game and the final home match of the season.
