Facing a one-year deadline to complete a major restoration project at Squibnocket Beach, the Chilmark selectmen on Tuesday unanimously approved a concept plan for a new parking lot near the beach and a new boat launch at Squibnocket Pond.

Having long enjoyed several parking spots near the Gay Head Light, a small group of condominium residents in Aquinnah are feeling cramped by summer traffic at the Circle this year.

Members of the Lagoon Pond Association will gather this weekend to talk about critical issues facing the saltwater pond.
