What fabulous weather last weekend. Cool and crisp for sleeping, I had to use an extra blanket. Then absolutely perfect daytime temperatures. I sat on a stool and weeded with no goal in mind. The little goldfinches simply cornered the drooping, spent heads of my volunteer sunflowers. Those volunteers were larger and more sturdy than the ones I planted. Go figure.
I stand corrected. I’ve never given much thought or credit to the Rose of Sharon.
Here it is Labor Day, the end of another summer. The days have shortened. I’m glad of that fact.
I am pretty grateful that we were spared once again from possible disaster from another hurricane. I enjoyed my day inside.
The sun streamed into the horse barn at the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Hall yesterday morning, with a crisp blue sky in the background and the trees only moving slightly in a light breeze. It was a far departure from the day before when intense winds lashed across the Vineyard as tropical storm Irene passed over the Island.
I finally got my first mosquito bite. I was becoming somewhat smug. I do think as one ages one is not as tasty.
