Hello, Chloe

Sandra Phillips and Daniel Phillips of Tisbury announce the birth of a daughter, Chloe Rose Phillips, born on August 10, 2009, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Chloe weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces at birth. She is welcomed by her brother, Wylie James.

Blood Needed

The American Red Cross has started to see a decline in blood donations and needs your help. In recent weeks, the community blood supply has dropped below sufficient levels.

The Red Cross asks you to please consider making time to donate blood today, Tuesday, August 18, between the hours of noon and 5 p.m. at the Portuguese American Club at 137 Vineyard avenue in Oak Bluffs.

Dog Training Methods

Janine Lazarus, the principal trainer for the Monks of New Skete, will be giving a training demonstration and talk at Good Dog Goods in Oak Bluffs on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Ms. Lazarus is a renowned dog trainer with the Monks of New Skete, whose training books are considered among the best for obedience training. The following Island students graduated from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H. on May 16: Kayla Rose Mastromonaco of Vineyard Haven, magna cum laude with a degree in psychology; Eric Charles Soikkeli of Vineyard Haven, cum laude with a degree in marketing; Paige A.
