Celebrations
Ed Cisek, longtime company member of WIMP and IMP Improv, received the news this week that every improviser dreams of: he is now a performer on a Harold Team at the iO Theater (formally ImprovOlympic) in Chicago.
He was chosen as one of 15 performers from a group of 80 who completed the iO training program. At the end of his summer teaching at IMP Camp, Ed will join an impressive list of actors such as Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Neil Flynn, Rachel Dratch, Chris Farley, Tim Meadows, Adam McKay and Amy Poehler, to perform at iO.

The 90-foot schooner Alabama is back in Vineyard waters after having run aground in the Mystic River last Wednesday night.
“There was no visible damage,” said Morgan Douglas of Coastwise Packet yesterday, after divers went below to check the vessel.
Ann Deitrich Honored
Ann Deitrich of Chilmark was named volunteer of the year at the 39th annual meeting of Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands.
She has been a Meals on Wheels volunteer for as long as anyone at the Vineyard office can remember (and they have long memories). It has been more than 20 years. She has experienced all the joys and sorrows inherent in delivering meals to elders, responding to the eventful and uneventful with compassion.
The Oak Bluffs Council on Aging recently honored Ruth Metell as volunteer of the year.
Ruth has been behind her desk at the senior center for six years, always with a cheerful smile. She is the first one there for anyone in need; she never says no.
This petite lady stays very busy. In addition to the volunteer work at the senior center, she is involved with the P.A. Club, the scholarship fund, Possible Dreams auction, the Oak Bluffs Firemen’s Association, and church work.

Kristin Emily Hall and Andy Joseph Estrella of West Tisbury announce the birth of a son, Olsen Michael Joseph Estrella, born on July 3, 2010, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Olsen weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces at birth.

Cristina Rodrigues and Renato de Oliveira Souza of Edgartown announce the birth of a son, Anthony Yan Rodrigues Souza, on June 19 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Anthony weighed 8 pounds 15.6 ounces at birth.
