Celebrations
Shaelah Huntington is valedictorian for the class of 2010. Shaelah is the daughter of Susan and Peter Huntington of West Tisbury. She will attend Connecticut College in New London, Conn.
Tessa Permar is salutatorian for the class of 2010. Tessa is the daughter of Jane Dreeben of West Tisbury and Brad Permar of Vineyard Haven. She will attend Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Hayley Pierce is class essayist for the class of 2010. Hayley is the daughter of Tom and Bonnie Pierce of Edgartown. She will attend the University of Miami in Miami, Fla.
Michael Beauboeuf, grandson of lifelong Chappy resident Jerry Jeffers, will attend Harvard University in the fall.
Michael is a member of the Wampanoag tribe of Aquinnah and a senior at the Mystic Valley Regional Charter High School in Malden.
More Honors
Two students were omitted from the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Honors List published in Friday’s Gazette.
Meghan Pettit made consistent achievement in honor roll status for the first three quarters for seniors and Molly Ciciora made consistent achievement in honor roll status for the first three quarters for juniors.
Ayslly Arrives
Andria Zotte Otoni and Ateoni Alves Otoni of Edgartown announce the birth of a daughter, Ayslly Zotte Otoni, born on May 30, 2010, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Ayslly weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces at birth.
Island Pools Awards
Edgartown pool builder Island Pools & Spas was awarded two first and one second place awards in a competition hosted by the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals, New England chapter.
Vineyard residents who will graduate from the Falmouth Academy on Saturday, June 12, are:
• Clea C. Baumhofer, the daughter of Kim and Mark Baumhofer of Vineyard Haven, who will enter Johns Hopkins University this fall.
• Lily Cronig, the daughter of Jo Weinberg of West Tisbury and Donald Cronig of Vineyard Haven, who will enroll at Hampshire College in the fall.
• Niole F. Nelson, the daughter of Dawne Charters-Nelson and Jeffrey Nelson of Vineyard Haven, who will enter Mt. Holyoke College.
