Special Delivery

Starting this month Cardi’s Furniture Stores will offer limited delivery to Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Rhode Island. Delivery is available on select dates to those who purchase $1,000 in furnishings. The delivery rate is $95.

The first Island delivery took place Jan. 10. A second delivery is scheduled for Feb. 15. More information is available by calling 508-379-7510 or by visiting cardis.com. Cardi’s operates 21 furniture stores in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Dean’s List

Ryan Brennan of Vineyard Haven has been named to the Providence College dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.

Hotel Earns High Praise

The Charlotte Inn in Edgartown continues to attract awards. The luxury Edgartown hotel has been named to British magazine Tatler’s list of 101 Best Hotels in the World. Only eight hotels in the United States were chosen for the list.

The inn also has been included on Forbes Travel Guide’s 54th annual list of five-star and four-star hospitality establishments worldwide, and was chosen as one of the top 30 small resorts in the United States in Conde Nast Traveler’s annual readers’ choice awards.

Welcome Pablo

Nicole DerManelian and Mark Begle of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of a son, Pablo Ganesh DerManelian Begle, born on Dec. 30, 2011 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Pablo weighed 9 pounds, .5 ounces at birth. Pablo is welcomed by big sister Arjuna Inez.

Lauded Elder Lawyer

Certified elder law attorney R.J. Connelly 3rd, a longtime seasonal resident of the Vineyard, has been awarded the Alliance for Better Long-Term Care’s Hero Award for his dedication to protecting elder rights.

Mr. Connelly has practiced elder law for more than 16 years and maintains offices in both Pawtucket, R.I. and Mystic, Conn. He is also certified to practice law in Massachusetts.
