Meadow Arrives

Madison Ibsen and Thomas Christopher, of Oak Bluffs, announce the birth of a daughter, Meadow Kay Christopher, born on July 27.

A few weeks ago the Martha’s Vineyard Charter school entered the annual Botball championships held at the University of Massachusetts Lowell Costello gym. And they kicked some metallic butt.

Sharks, community radio, green thumbs, bakers, and Bob Carroll, all in one sitting. This week the Martha’s Vineyard Magazine’s current issue hits the stands reveling in all things tasty, interesting, magical and mercurial. In other words, all things quintessentially Vineyard.

The magazine’s wedding edition is also on newsstands now. The issue highlights eight weddings, including a steampunk celebration in Chilmark, a Morning Glory Farm match made in the dirt, and a beach wedding for 300 at Chappaquiddick’s Wasque Point.

Welcome Silas

Sarah and Oberon York of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of a son, Silas Kano York, born on March 26 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Silas weighed 7 pounds, 8.5 ounces at birth and joins big sister Lilah.

Announcing Issac

Danielle Nickowal and Abraham Rendon of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of a son, Issac Micheal Rendon, born on April 23 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Issac weighed 7 pounds, 3.5 ounces at birth.

Farmers’ Market Moves

The Oak Bluffs Open Market is on the move. The farmers’ market will relocate to Washington Park, between Our Market and the Ocean View Restaurant. The market will be held Sundays, beginning May 13 and continuing through Oct. 28. Market hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during July and August.

Leadership Award

Owners and managers from South Mountain Co. of West Tisbury recently joined some 3,000 architects, builders and energy practitioners from around the Northeast for the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association’s annual conference in Boston.

Company president John Abrams was a keynote speaker and led a workshop at the conference, and director of engineering Marc Rosenbaum received the association’s professional leadership award, becoming only the third winner of the prestigious award.
