Welcome Neyla
Jennifer and Erivelton Abreu of Edgartown announce the birth of a daughter, Neyla Maria Abreu, born on June 7 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Neyla weighed 8 pounds, 7.5 ounces at birth.
Hello, John
Lucie Rodegast and Matthew Townsend of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of a son, John Eric Townsend, born on June 10 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. John weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce at birth.
Chelsea Grain Graduates
Chelsea A. Grain of Chilmark and Sarasota, Fla. graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover on June 3. While at the academy, Chelsea’s achievements included earning a varsity letter in track and field, being elected president of the African American Latino Society, and appearing on the honor roll. Chelsea will attend Duke University in the fall, with a major in economics.
Oak Bluffs school principal Richie Smith has announced the honor roll for the second trimester of the 2011-2012 academic year.
Eighth grade high honors go to Madeline Alley, Emma Caron, Oliver Carson and Courtney Howell.
Awarded Degree
Alicia Lauren Agnoli has graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine. The daughter of Francine and Jeffrey Agnoli of Edgartown, Alicia received a joint M.D. and master’s degree in public health in ceremonies held May 20. Dr. Agnoli, a 2001 graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, will begin her residency program in Family Medicine at Tufts Medical Center this July.
Doctorate Degree
Nancy Langman of Vineyard Haven, program director at Martha’s Vineyard Community Services Island Counseling Center, received her doctorate in nursing practice in public health leadership from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on May 11.
The degree carries a specialty focus on Alzheimer’s disease and caregivers.
Her prior degrees include a bachelor’s from Wagner College, a master’s in psychiatric nursing from Boston University and a master’s in public health from Tulane University.
