It’s out with the white linen table cloths and in with the repurposed wood as the farm-to-table movement anchors itself in Chilmark this summer.

Farmer and chef Chris Fischer will take the helm of the restaurant at the Beach Plum Inn in Menemsha, the inn announced this week. Mr. Fischer will source directly from his family’s farm, Beetlebung Farm, just over a mile down the road.

The gym recently purchased new high-tech equipment, including elliptical units, treadmills, stationary bikes and crossover equipment with 19-inch touch screen displays that allow users to track fitness goals, surf the web, watch TV, check emails and connect to mobile devices while working out.

Art is everywhere on Martha’s Vineyard. You can find it in the galleries and shops all over the Island. Its cousin, craft, is easy to find as well, but often it requires a trip outside. Take a drive up-Island, for example, where the weathered stone walls in Chilmark still serve as property boundaries and line the roads. Dry stone walls have existed for centuries, used in all corners of the world and constructed according to the same basic blueprint: fit stones of differing sizes together in a three-dimensional jigsaw.

Skip Finley, director of sales and marketing for the Vineyard Gazette, has been named one of six recipients of the Broadcasters Foundation of America’s 2013 Ward L. Quaal Leadership Awards. Mr. Finley, a veteran radio executive, served as managing partner in Noepe Communications prior to joining the Gazette staff earlier this year.

Educomp in Vineyard Haven has been awarded a two-year contract as the exclusive Apple certified sales and service provider on Martha’s Vineyard. Following the closing of Mac Sales and Service, Educomp is now the only business on Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket that has this designation.

Educomp was founded in 1982.
