Randall Jette, a football standout from Martha’s Vineyard who went on to play for UMass, is headed to the NFL after signing with the Green Bay Packers.

Chilmark voters elected Carol (Candy) Shweder to the library board of trustees in the only contested race on the ballot for Wednesday’s annual town election.

Nobska Light in Falmouth, a familiar landmark on the ferry route between Woods Hole and the Vineyard, is being transferred to the town of Falmouth and the care of a new nonprofit group, Friends of Nobska Light.

Thursday’s town elections brought low turnout and few surprises, with voters in West Tisbury, Oak Bluffs and Edgartown easily approving spending requests.

Much has changed in Edgartown in the past 50 years, but one thing has not: at every town meeting and election, a Searle was on hand, wearing a constable’s badge.

Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Oak Bluffs and Edgartown and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in West Tisbury. There are few contested elections.
