Aquinnah voters approved the $32,000 purchase of a half acre of land for relocation of the Gay Head Light while moving quickly through a special town meeting agenda Tuesday night. Forty-four voters gathered at the old town hall unanimously approved 16 out of 18 agenda items, but paused for discussion about the proposal to purchase land for the lighthouse relocation effort. Selectman chairman Beverly Wright said the lot is one of three where the town might relocate the lighthouse.

The state ethics commission has approved a proposed exemption to the conflict of interest law that would allow state Sen. Dan Wolf to remain in office while owning part of Cape Air.

The ethics commission voted unanimously at a special Monday morning meeting to approve the exemption to the state ethics law, commission spokesman David Giannotti said. The exemption would allow state, county or municipal employees to have government contracts subject to certain conditions.

After about seven months of work and one highly visible house move that attracted national attention, construction work on the Schifter property on Chappaquiddick is coming to a close. A barge is expected to come into the Edgartown harbor this week to remove equipment and Richard Schifter said his family expects to spend Thanksgiving back in their relocated home.

About a year ago the Edgartown conservation commission approved emergency measures to stem erosion at the Schifter’s Wasque property.
