Martha's Vineyard joined Jews everywhere in celebrating the second night of Passover at the Hebrew Center on Tuesday. Three members of the congregation shared personal stories of freedom.

Boosting the shoulder season economy was one topic for discussion at the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development hearing Tuesday. The hearing was part of a statewide listening tour.

The town was one of 10 communities to receive a Coastal Community Resilience Grant in a new state program to address climate change. The $200,000 will be used to protect key components of the wastewater system from storm damage.

The Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Cultural Development will host a public hearing at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center in Vineyard Haven. The public is invited to talk about arts and culture as they relate to the Island economy.
