Gil Traverso, principal of the Roger L. Putnam Vocational-Technical Academy in Springfield, and David Maxwell, associate principal at Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa, are both in the running for the top post at the regional high school.
Today is Flag Day. A rededication of Veterans Park in Vineyard Haven begins when the Northeast Navy Marching Band steps off at 11 a.m. from St. Augustine’s Church. The park was bought and built by American Legion Post 257 in 1964.

A minor change in language regarding area closures was easily approved last Tuesday by the selectmen, along with an update to commercial shellfishing regulations that makes them consistent with state laws. The latter change restricts the number of commercial license holders per boat to two.
