Nora Love, who lives in Oak Bluffs returned to the United States last Thursday from her most recent International Rescue Committee challenge: setting up an Ebola treatment unit in Monrovia, Liberia. Time Magazine named Ebola fighters as its person of the year for 2014.

Tisbury’s annual tax rate classification hearing ended without resolution and will be continued next week after delays at the state level left selectmen unable to set a tax rate for the coming year. The hearing saw a large turnout.

The basement hall at St. Augustine's might well be Santa’s workshop this week, except that Santa is in this case a group of dedicated volunteers with one goal: provide children in need with gifts for Christmas. This year, more than 300 children will receive gifts through the Red Stocking Fund.

The small park space on Main street in Edgartown is once again the subject of discussion as the town has taken steps toward purchasing it. The town Community Preservation Committee unanimously recommended spending $1.9 million on the purchase at its meeting last week.
