Getting Strong Now, WVVY Punches Up the Wattage
The motto of WVVY radio used to be “You Never Know What You’re Going to Hear Next.” And now, following the station’s recent signal boost, you may even be able to hear whatever’s next in Falmouth.

Saturday night marks the official public opening of the Strand, the culmination of months of hard work and hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations. On Friday night, an invitation-only event was a chance to celebrate the opening of an old Vineyard institution with supporters.
The Strand movie theatre in Oak Bluffs, shuttered since 2011, will have its grand reopening this weekend. On Friday night there will be an invitation-only event; Saturday night the Strand will open to the public with two film showings.
On June 27, North Water street in Edgartown will be crowded with classic cars during the first ever Car-B-Q Classic beginning at 9:30 a.m. and stretching to 2 p.m.
Dr. John Rizzo was announced as the choice by incoming schools superintendent Matthew D’Andrea Thursday morning. Mr. Rizzo is currently principal at the Milton Bradley School Springfield. He begins work August 1.
The Red Sox and the Cardinals faced off last Saturday, but not at Fenway Park or Busch Stadium. Instead, the teams played in the lush grass and freshly-watered dirt of Little League’s new Penn Field in Oak Bluffs. It officially opens Saturday for the Little League championship games.
Throughout the summer, Farm. Field. Sea. will be offering unique excursions around the Island to give guests a farm-to-table journey.
