A Howling Good Time
A snowy weekend forecast will find many at home, staying warm and stimulated with a blanket and a movie. But for those ready to brave the elements, Che’s Lounge in Vineyard Haven has got your wintry fix: Adam Howl and a few of his many friends will play the Island’s coziest cafe Saturday night, starting at 7:30 p.m. Chords, choruses, caffeine and a cast-iron pellet stove keep the heat just right for lounge lizards looking for a place to bask into the night. $4 cover; call 774-521-8898 for details.
A free seminar on energy planning, designed for architects, engineers, town planners, facilities managers and other building and design professionals, will take place on Thursday, Jan. 14, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay. It is presented by the Cape Light Compact.
The seminar will cover emerging technologies that may affect new and existing buildings and offer details about funding available to implement energy efficient upgrades.
CPR/First Aid Class
The American Red Cross, Cape Cod and Islands Chapter will hold an Adult CPR/AED and First Aid class Jan. 9 at the YMCA on Martha’s Vineyard at 57 Pequot avenue in Oak Bluffs. The class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and costs $50 for CPR/AED only (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), or $60 for CPR/AED and First Aid (1 to 3:30 p.m.).
The Chilmark Community Center provided the perfect backdrop for a thorough community experience this past Saturday, an event called Family Film Feast put on by the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival.
ITW Annual Meeting
