Five Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School students will be traveling to El Salvador this summer as part of a U.S. State Department exchange program.

Making school history for the second time in two weeks, the undefeated regional high school girls’ tennis team steamrolled its way to the finals of the division three state tournament this week. The girls will play Hopedale Friday at 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s Prep in Shrewsbury for the state title.
The Island community gave a multitude of scholarships to Island students at the annual class night last Friday.
Dr. John Rizzo was announced as the choice by incoming schools superintendent Matthew D’Andrea Thursday morning. Mr. Rizzo is currently principal at the Milton Bradley School Springfield. He begins work August 1.
