In the single largest procurement of offshore wind in the state’s history, state officials said Friday they are pursuing power purchase agreements with SouthCoast Wind, New England Wind and Vineyard Wind II for 2,700 megawatts of electricity.

Revolution Wind, an offshore wind energy project located 12 miles southwest of Aquinnah, completed installation of its first wind turbine, the company announced Tuesday.  

A month after its 300-foot long blade folded over and scattered debris across the region, Vineyard Wind this week said a barge would be leaving New Bedford carrying several towers and one nacelle out to the construction site for installation.

A week after debris from the broken Vineyard Wind turbine washed up on Edgartown beaches, state officials said they are investigating potential harm to the region’s seafood but don’t see a need to immediately stop eating shellfish.

Edgartown sent out a swimming advisory to beachgoers Wednesday after pieces of foam from Vineyard Wind’s broken wind turbine washed up on Norton Point and South Beach. 

Though pieces of the broken Vineyard Wind turbine continued to fall into the ocean south of the Island this week, federal regulators have approved the wind farm to lay cables.
