The Martha’s Vineyard Commission will open a new public hearing next week on revised plans for the Katama Meadows subdivision, after commissioners voted Thursday to accept the withdrawal of a previous application.
The Edgartown planning board unanimously voted to send the latest iteration of Katama Meadows, a subdivision plan off Meeting House Way, and a 15-unit project near Dairy Queen on Upper Main street to the Martha's Vineyard Commission for review.
Situated on a 54-acre parcel off Meeting House Way, the Katama Meadows development is attempting to withdraw its application to the Martha’s Vineyard Commission to allow for a redesign targeting Islanders in the “missing middle” income bracket.
The Edgartown affordable housing committee said they were pleased with the amendments that Katama Meadows, a subdivision proposal off Meeting House Way, was putting forth after the committee and select board called for more units for middle-income earners.
The developers behind the controversial housing project in Edgartown are planning to withdraw their application and propose more units targeted at Islanders in the “missing middle” income bracket.
