After being postponed back in May, the organizers of Brazil Fest decided this week that the new tentative date of Oct. 12 wasn't feasible due to concerns about Immigration officials returning to the Vineyard.

Federal agencies have not provided the state with more information about immigration arrests that took place on Martha’s Vineyard in May despite repeated demands, Gov. Maura Healey said during a visit to the Island this week.

U.S. Rep. William Keating is asking several federal agencies how many people were arrested on the Island, how they were targeted and if there was probable cause to detain them.

Several Island immigrants said members of their community are full of fear, and, whether they have the proper documentation or not, some are opting to stay home instead of going to work and school. 

Gov. Maura Healey is calling on federal agents to provide better information about the immigration arrests that took place on Martha’s Vineyard this week.  

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials were on the Vineyard Tuesday stopping vehicles and taking people into custody, according to officials and eyewitnesses.
