An Edgartown mooring holder has filed a lawsuit against the town, alleging a town official retaliated against him by barring access to the town’s only water taxi service.
A 62-year-old New York City man died over the weekend after he was found unresponsive in a boat in Edgartown harbor, according to Edgartown police.
The select board Monday voted to hire Gary Kovack, the current Tisbury harbor master and a former Edgartown police officer, to replace longtime harbor master Charlie Blair.
On Wednesday, the board interviewed Michael Gately, an Islander who has worked for a global marine infrastructure company, Tisbury harbor master Gary Kovack, and charter boat captain Kurt Peterson.
Charlie Blair took over as the Edgartown harbor master in 1995, but his love of being on the water began much earlier, as a boy growing up in Florida.
Harbor master Charlie Blair announced his retirement through a letter read aloud at the Edgartown select board meeting Monday. He will step away after 30 years with the town.
