The boys of summer are back in action tonight as the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks play their first home game of the season, taking on the Brockton Rox.
Skim the record books for the past four years of high school soccer, basketball and baseball, and you’ll notice a recurring name. Skim the grade books at the high school and you’ll notice the name again, this time at the top of the class, in the valedictorian spot for the class of 2013. Who is this Jack Roberts guy?
Senior girls’ lacrosse captain Alayna Hutchinson smashed the program’s career scoring record this year with 193 goals and 150 assists. Hutchinson finished the season with 65 goals and 30 assists. Senior co-captain Taylor Poggi was second in scoring with 47 goals and 16 assists; junior Molly Wallace had 33 goals and 22 assists. Junior Isabel Smith, the team’s top defender, had 17 and 16 assists. The girls finished the season with a 5-13 record and were 2-4 in the Eastern Athletic Conference.
