A West Tisbury woman suffered minor injuries and was charged with drunk driving after she reportedly drove through a stop sign on Atlantic Drive in Edgartown early Tuesday morning and flew over a sand dune before coming to rest in shallow waters in Herring Creek.

Edgartown police said Susan Austin, 54, may have been stranded in the pond for several hours before a passing motorist spotted her vehicle and called 911 for help.

A Vineyard Haven man was arrested last week on charges of forcible rape and indecent assault and battery after he allegedly assaulted a woman at his home on Daggett avenue after she gave him a ride home from a party.

Walas Rodrigues, 25, was arraigned in Edgartown district court on Monday on two charges of forcible rape, one count of indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years or older and one count of assault and battery.

Oak Bluffs police last Friday arrested a 33-year-old native of Ireland after he reportedly stole a laptop computer and cash on separate occasions from a man who had hired him to paint his home.

Gerard McSteen, also known as Jerrod McSteen, was apprehended by Falmouth police as he disembarked from the ferry in Woods Hole before being turned over to the Oak Bluffs police.

Oak Bluffs police received a call on New Year’s Day from a women who reported the unlikely combination of a fire and domestic violence at a residence on Beacon avenue.

But when police responded, they came across something entirely different. They eventually confiscated 70 pot plants while arresting a local man on charges of cultivating marijuana.

The holiday spirit was not in the air last weekend at the Eden Garden Center.

Tisbury police responded to a call Sunday morning from the Tea Lane Christmas Shoppe reporting a robbery. The store is located at the garden center at 259 State Road.

The call came at 10:40 a.m from an employee who arrived to work to find the padlock from the front door removed, the entire cash register and its contents gone and a donation box for the Red Stocking Fund missing.

Oak Bluffs police last Friday broke up a party on Grovedale Road attended by more than a dozen underage guests and charged the host with illegally providing alcohol to minors.

Matthew P. Lyons, 24, was charged with selling or delivering liquor to a person under the age of 21. He was arraigned in Edgartown District Court on Monday and released on $100 bail.
