When Long Point was opened to the public in the late 1970s, I was asked by the Trustees of Reservations to form and head a local committee to help manage the refuge.
The frogman plopped his dripping flippers and oxygen tanks on the dock and strode up to one of the phalanx of blue-blazered, gray-trousered, penny-loafered Secret Service agents patrolling Vineyard Haven's Coastwise wharf.
The first time I took a yoga class with Primo Lombardi it was in the Parish Hall at the Chilmark Community Church — a short walk from his former headquarters at the Chilmark Store.
