Surfcasters Groups Meets
For Awards, New Officers
The Martha’s Vineyard Surfcasters Association will hold its annual banquet and awards ceremony Saturday, Jan. 26 at noon in the Baylies Room of the Old Edgartown Whaling Church.
President Jeff Sayre said the event is open to members and all those who are thinking of membership.
The association is a recreational fishing club now in its 19th year. The group has 150 members.
An awards ceremony will honor the top club anglers of 2007.
Sometimes you just have to face the facts, even if they seem rather unpleasant.
Most people use the term habitat without realizing that they are one. Yes, you read right: whether you know it or not, you are a habitat and a home base for ectoparasites.
Come springtime, the telltale signs of Vineyard farming activity will begin to reappear. One day, the fields are lifeless, the next, tractors are out and the soil has been tilled. Before too long, farmhands dot the fields picking berries and greens and juicy tomatoes. The farm stands fill up, parking at the farmer’s market is nowhere to be found, and on it goes until the last pumpkins, squash and apples are harvested.

I hope I do not sound completely hard-hearted, but, thankfully, my last rabbit has died. I started out with two adorable Easter bunnies when the children were little. I was assured they were both females. You must be able to see where this is headed.
