Called the Flower Moon, Monday night’s full moon resides in the zodiacal constellation Scorpius. The moon is one of the southernmost full moons of the year. The moon hangs low in the southern sky all night and is in the zodiacal constellation Scorpius.

While enjoying my morning cup of Joe, I looked out at my blooming white rhododendron, fragrant viburnum, fully budded miniature lilac, weeping crabbapple, mature old apple in all its glory, the remnants of the flowering quince, and watched a pair of orchard orioles flitting about in the apple tree. Now there is a sight to write home about. I confess I don’t do that as often as I would like. Good thing the folks receive the Gazette weekly. Hi Mom and Dad . . . . Love you!
If you blinked last week, then you might have missed it. The shadbush bloomed.
Shadbush is a quick-change artist: its flowers are here one moment and gone the next. Before leaf-out of most other woodland species, the slender five-petaled white flowers of the shadbush appear and fade away quickly.
Burning Noman’s Land in May? What is that all about? This is nesting season. There are birds on eggs and some with young over there already. Did the Navy want scrambled eggs for breakfast or perhaps squab? And doesn’t Massachusetts Fish and Wildlife have control over Noman’s? It seems they should know better than to burn in May.

I guess this past week weather-wise is called a January thaw. We did not really experience it the last several years as December was unseasonably warm.
