Chocoholic’s Delight
Whether money can buy you love is still up for debate in some circles. But chocolate, that’s a no-brainer. Chocolate can open every heart.
On Friday, Oct. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. you get to taste the love at Featherstone’s Art of Chocolate festival. This is the seventh time around for this dandy delectable of the fall season.
Chocolate tastings, Champagne and fine wines, chocolate martinis and musical entertainment all for a mere $50 donation.
On your mark, get set, hunt and gather. That’s right: Foraging is king at the Wild Food Challenge taking place at Détente Restaurant this Monday, Oct. 4.
All those prepackaged, easy to bake, box-of-ingredients dishes are getting kicked to the curb.
Goal Sharky’s
Sharky’s Cantina is hosting a fundraiser this Tuesday, Oct. 5, for the Martha’s Vineyard Girls’ soccer booster club. All food sales that evening will benefit the booster club. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. The fundraiser will take place at both the Edgartown and Oak Bluffs Sharky’s.
The fourth annual Taste of Tashmoo fundraiser will be held at the waterfront home of Denys and Marilyn Wortman at Hines Point in Vineyard Haven, on Friday, Sept. 3. The event is to benefit the Tashmoo Spring Building Preservation Fund, aimed at restoring the historic 1887 pumping station for community use
The menu will include a raw bar with clams freshly dug from Island waters as well as tastings from Island farms, caterers, restaurants, brew pubs and wine shops. There also will be a silent auction and live music. It will be rain or shine.
The Oyster Bar Grill is hosting a Wine and Champagne fundraiser on August 29, from 1 to 3 p.m., to benefit the growth of Pathway to Your Success, a weekly program broadcast on MVTV and the web. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted on behalf of the organization.
The television show is the five-month-old project hosted by Islander Natalie Dickerson, featuring local business heroes. The goal is for the television show also to become a reference tool for local entrepreneurs.
Flatbread and Farm
The Farm Institute calls it farmtastic. On Tuesday, August 31, from noon to close, pat your happy stomach, full with delicious pizza and organic salads from Flatbread Pizza, while also patting yourself on the back for supporting farm education for children and adults. A portion of pizza sales goes directly to the Farm Institute.
