Peacecraft holiday craft sale will be located at 9 Beach Road in Vineyard Haven this year, opening the day after Thanksgiving and running through Dec. 24. Organizers hope to recruit enough volunteers to be open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Montessori Yard Sale

Vineyard Montessori Yard Sale Fund-raiser will take place on Sunday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the corner of Tashmoo avenue and Main street, Vineyard Haven. Forty-five families will be donating items for the yard sale. There will also be children’s activities, baked goods and warm drinks. Cars for a Good Cause

Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs in the commonwealth are seeking donations of used cars; money from the sale of the cars supports the programs. Donations are tax-deductible for those who itemize. To donate a car call 1-800-246-0493.

Affordable child care on the Vineyard has been suddenly and severely curtailed due to state budget shortfalls.

Already, no new Island children are being funded; as of Nov. 3, even eligible working parents are being placed on waiting lists indefinitely, Vineyard child care advocates confirmed this week. Because of a multimillion dollar deficit, the state department that handles early childhood education has unilaterally frozen child care assistance for low-income families.

Turkey Serve

Registration for the Turkey Open tennis tournament at the Vineyard Tennis Center is open from now until Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. The cost of registration is a donation to the Island Food Pantry. For details call 508-696-8000.

The Vineyard Committee on Hunger is looking for sponsors to help Island families in need have a great Thanksgiving meal. Sponsors are asked to contribute $25, the cost of one family’s meal. Last year’s program was able to provide over 120 meals for each of the Thanksgiving and December holidays.
