New Year’s Resolution

My New Year’s resolutions/Are soon forgotten delusions/About who I could be.

My New Year’s resolutions

Are soon forgotten delusions

About who I could be

Indeed, at times

I might like to be a tree

Within a chorus

Of dropping leaves

In unison and harmony

To a forest’s drumbeat

And season’s cadence

Of songs never complete

Simply rhythms to repeat

As leaves restore each spring

A form of rehearsal

Year after year

Not unlike resolutions

In search

Of the illusive tree of life

Not found in any tree

But in the forest’s melody

In me.

Happy New Year Harry. As usual your art work is as beautiful as your poetry. Nothing short of excellent.

To borrow a metaphor from Seamus Heaney’s The Cure at Troy...your art and poetry constitute a rhyming of hope and insight, of yearning and resolution. Bravo, Harry!

HS, You are an unfinished melody in search of a note. But it is a beautiful sound. Hearing you we all feel better.
